From minimum wage on a hospital switchboard, I've held scientific, operations and communication roles in startup to multinational firms. Settings have spanned hospitals, managed care, pharmaceuticals and medical device manufacturing.
I've helped bring drugs and devices to market and co-authored clinical studies to improve disease detection and therapy.
Past employers include community hospitals, the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, WellPoint (now Anthem), Aventis (now Sanofi) and Bodypoint (regulated medical devices).
I earned a BA in Philosophy & Business Administration from the University of Houston, with a Master's degree in Public Health (Health Services) from the University of Texas.
I've learned firsthand the value of careful choices and decision support. My husband was born with Marfan syndrome and later acquired diabetes and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). I was his full-time caregiver in his last years, and remain active in rare disease communities.
